Three pictures, no less can do it - I am over excited about these little bowls. I want to make more and more and more. They are everything I want to achieve as a glass maker with a background and not so secret lust for ceramic*. They have that rustic feel that I like in ceramic, but still the glass qualities.


*if having to choose, I will almost always pick the ceramic exhibition over a glass exhibition :-s

This is the storm I have been brewing up. It is obviously a thunder storm.

They fit tea candles and they come in a calmer white version for the blue sky days too.

The small pinch bowls have grown bigger and taller, into vase size.

Goodies from the heat came out last night. I now know the stacking of shelves in the kiln can take an earthquake up to at least 4.9 without collapse... This little number is a development on from the sketching back here . It can be made in varied heights easy too.

First survivor this size ( 20 cm wide ). I am starting to have worked out most of the details that makes this cast, but I will never be fully in charge of what comes out of the kiln, the white opaline glass that makes part of the piece is very hard to predict and control - That is part of the charm.

More dipping and spots, all in one.

The kiln has not been empty, even when I have been quiet for a while. I am still working with dipping plaster positives in wax and building up forms layer by layer. This came out last week. It is only the size of a hand, but I have ready to go in the heat, a bigger one.

Pinch bowl. Making a functional production line in cast glass is a bit challenging, particular making it cost realistic against time spent, but I enjoy the design aspect of it and setting a table with hand crafted pieces is a joy.
They are 9 cm long and I am working on a larger, but low version now.

After yesterday, I need to remember that sometimes it does work. This was a commissioned piece as a wedding present and the budget made me work in a smaller scale than before. It took quite some time to adjust to size, these forms seem to grow big, but I was very pleased in the end. It is about 20 cm long and 8 cm heigh.
